Frequently asked questions
Do you only recommend one AI vendor?
No. Compliant Devices is deliberately vendor-neutral. Depending on your use case, budget, and risk profile we may recommend Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google, or a self-hosted open model like Llama or DeepSeek. We have no incentive to push one platform — our only job is the best, most compliant fit for you.
How do you keep our data private when we use AI?
We configure your AI so sensitive data never leaks. That means switching off model training on your inputs where possible, restricting what the AI can access, and adding guardrails that detect and block PHI or PII before it leaves your environment. Your data stays yours — not fuel for someone else’s model.
Why can’t I just buy a plan online?
Every AI environment is different. We scope each engagement by hand — the right model, the right guardrails, and the right policies for your team and your regulators — so there are no canned setups. Start with a free assessment and we’ll build the right plan with you.
Is our data safe with AI tools?
It can be, when it is set up correctly. We put your AI behind proper access controls, data-loss prevention, and audit logging, and we choose deployment options (including self-hosted or private-cloud models) that match your security requirements.
Can the AI vendor see our data?
That depends entirely on how the tool is configured — and getting that right is exactly what we do. We select and set up AI so that, wherever possible, your prompts and data are not retained or used for training, and we document who can see what. For the most sensitive workloads we can deploy open models you host yourself, so nothing ever leaves your walls.
Do we have to move everything to the cloud?
No. We work with whatever fits your compliance posture — major cloud AI services with the right agreements in place, private-cloud deployments, or fully self-hosted open models running on your own hardware. You choose how much stays in-house.
What compliance frameworks do you work with?
We build AI governance around the standards regulated teams answer to — HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC 2, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework — and we produce the risk assessments, policies, and audit trails your auditors expect.
